Is OhioHealth Surgical Specialists affiliated with a hospital? 

OhioHealth Surgical Specialists is part of the OhioHealth family of physicians, practicing with Doctors Hospital.
 

Is a physician referral required to a physician?

Individual insurance requirements determine if a referral is required.  Please check with your insurance carrier to see if you need a referral to see our physicians.   Office appointments are made within one or two days of your referral. We work closely with your primary care physician, providing complete and prompt communication about your condition and progress.
 

What do I need to bring to an office visit?

Please bring the following to your appointment:
  •   Current insurance card(s)
  •   Photo ID
  •   A list of current medications and dosing instructions or the medicine containers
  •   Co-payment (if required by your insurance company)
  •   Referral paperwork from your primary care physician


What is your cancelled appointment policy?

If you must cancel your appointment, we’ll be happy to reschedule at a more convenient time. We ask you to give us 24 hours advance notice for a cancellation.
 

What should I do if your office is closed and I need medical care?

OhioHealth Surgical Specialists has a 24-hour answering service because we know it’s important to talk to you when you need it. 
 
If you have a medical condition that is not critical, but should not wait until the office is open, please call our office number at (614) 544-1880 and our answering service will relay your message to the physician, who will return your call as soon as possible.
 
Our office is open Monday through Friday, 8 am until 5 pm. We ask our patients to call us during regular business hours regarding all non-urgent matters.  If you have a true medical emergency, please call 9-1-1 or report to the closest emergency department.
 

What are your billing requirements?

Please provide our staff with complete, accurate billing information at the time of your visit to the office. We will ask you for a copy of your insurance card(s) and a photo ID at the time of service. It is our standard billing policy to submit a claim for all services to your insurance carrier. You will be responsible for all co-payments, deductibles and charges for non-covered service.
 

What should I do if I have questions about my bill?

Do you have financial assistance plans?

As part of OhioHealth, our practice is pleased to offer charity care and financial assistance to patients with limited resources and inadequate medical insurance coverage. The OhioHealth Financial Assistance/Charity program is a sliding scale based upon income and family size from 1 to 400% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines (a sliding scale discount). We also provide care for patients without health insurance at a 35% discount. Payment is due at the time of service.
